Gloria Burba, Assisted Living Resident
Moving to The Oaks at Flower Mound made a lot of sense for Gloria Burba and her husband Von – once his cancer progressed, they wanted to have on-site assistance as well as be closer to family. The compassionate caregivers at The Oaks were a blessing to them during his illness and when Von eventually passed away, Gloria was grateful for a close-knit community of support and friendship. “It’s an extended family. I have my children of course, but the caregivers, staff and friends here have become an extended family and made this my home.”

Betsy Mayes moved to The Oaks at Flower Mound in 2023 and in a short time has gotten her husband Bobby settled in to Memory Care as well as made friends with other residents. “We’re in the same building so I can easily walk over to see him any time and he is doing very well there.” She enjoys playing bingo and visiting with new friends at mealtime – and is excited to embrace everything the community has to offer.

Birdi Byrd, Medical Technician
A typical day at work for Birdi Byrd brings a variety of tasks and challenges – but one thing will never change: the love she has for her residents and fellow team members at The Oaks at Flower Mound. In her role as a medical technician, she’s happy to help out in any way she can. “We’ve really found that by working together, laughing, smiling and having fun with the residents, it doesn’t really feel as much like work. It really feels just like taking care of family.”
